I hope you’re enjoying The Mindful Consumer. This is a newsletter about paying attention to what you are paying attention to—and how it impacts your mindset, your mental health, and your money.
TMC is 1/3 of my job—and I treat it as such. I’m always trying to be a mindful creator, and put a lot of time and thought into everything I share with you. And I could not do this work without the financial support of this community.
By supporting this project, you’ll get access to everything I write, including my monthly newsletter filled with curated links/resources. Also, my gratitude for helping me continue writing for a living. Thank you, friend. ❤️
Hi friend,
This last newsletter of the year is coming out a little late, thanks to COVID. After successfully avoiding it since the one time I had it in 2020, it finally found me again… and we just spent a solid week indoors together. Today would’ve been day 8, but I finally tested negative this morning! (Christmas is NOT ruined!) I’m still sniffling and coughing, all that fun stuff. But I’m grateful to be past the worst of it—and so happy to finally be writing to you!
Every December through early January, I log off from work/social media for a few weeks. But it’s been a big year around here, and in my life, and I want to acknowledge that before leaving 2023 behind. While I haven’t been in the mood to do much reflection these past few months, something about piecing this together felt different—like something old me would do. I loved it.
It’s a list of what I explored in 2023: within myself, my relationships, the world, my local community, the content I consume, my creativity and my writing. It’s all here. I hope you enjoy reading (and looking at some of the pictures and clicking through to the many links!). Perhaps the format of this letter might even serve as inspiration for very simple end-of-year reflection questions for you too: what did you explore within… X?
